Honolulu Civil Defense Attorneys

Being sued in a civil lawsuit can be extremely daunting. It can cost you money, and time to defend, as well as create a lot of stress in your life. Once a party files a lawsuit against you, the next step is to have you served. Being served means you have formally been informed that you are being sued, who is suing you, and what they are suing you for. You should receive both a summons and compliant. If you do not receive both at the same time, the service may be defective. You will be obligated at that point to file a response to the complaint in a timely manner.

You may be able to challenge the service if it was not served properly. This is where having an attorney is essential. An attorney will be able to determine if service defective or not, as well as prepare defenses against the lawsuit. If you were properly served, you will need to work with your attorney to prepare your best defense. It’s crucial that you are truthful with your attorney and provide them with all documents and information relevant to the lawsuit. Your attorney will need to know everything, even if there is information that could be detrimental to your case. It’s better that your attorney does not get surprised at trial with information you failed to disclose.

Because this is a civil matter and not a criminal matter, the defendant is not facing jail or prison time, but rather a civil penalty that usually involves money. If the court rules in the plaintiff’s favor, a judgment is made. A judgment is usually accompanied by a court order that awards the plaintiff a certain amount of (damages) money that is to be paid by the defendant.

Civil matters may include:

  • Personal Injury
  • Negligence
  • Medical Malpractice
  • Fraud
  • Breach of Contract
  • Evictions

I have been meaning to write this review for some time now. (Sorry for the delay Marc) I am a newer member of AOR and thankfully haven't had to use any of the services that come along with being a member. I do want to speak to the exceptional customer service I have received both before signing up and after. I think I watched several hours of YouTube videos on all the major plans available and commented on many, including AOR videos to which Marc replied. I know I emailed the firm with general questions multiple times and spoke to members of the firm twice before even signing up. Never once did I feel like they weren't available to answer questions. After signing up I was planning a vacation and reached out the the local sheriff's office about carrying in that state/city. I wasn't given much information at all, so... I reached out to AOR. Marc replied and gave me some general advice and then forwarded my email to a couple of associates at the firm Moises Morales and Pierre B Whyte, the two prepared a thoughtful email with great advice for protecting myself while on vacation. This is the type of service that, in my opinion makes Attorneys for Freedom and the AOR program different.

Feels good to switch from an insurance company to an actual lawyers firm that feels as strongly as I do about the Second Amendment and the right to carry.
