You should never speak to law enforcement without first speaking with your attorney. If you are being questioned by anyone in law enforcement, just read the message on the back of the Attorneys for Freedom business card, then just shut up.

“I refuse to consent to any search whatsoever. As such, I do not consent to a search of my premises, my person, my immediate location, or any vehicle or effects. I hereby exercise my rights as enumerated by the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and Article Two of the Arizona Constitution. I demand to have my attorney present prior to and throughout any questioning at all. Additionally, I request to call my attorney right now for a private consultation.”

Crimes are divided into two different categories, misdemeanors, and felonies. Misdemeanors are less serious offenses and felonies are offenses that are more serious. Generally speaking, in Arizona, a criminal offense that could result in one year or more in prison is a felony. Felony crimes are considered more serious because they usually involve violence or present a serious danger to others.

In Arizona, there are six (6) classes of felonies, with class one (1) being the most serious. The class of the crime will also help determine the punishment for the crime. Crimes such as murder or rape will be more serious with harsher punishments than a crime involving simple possession of drugs.

Many factors will be used to determine what class of felony someone will be charged with such as if the offense was a first offense if a dangerous weapon or instrument was used, was the victim a child, and others.

Felony crimes can include:

  • Property Crimes
  • Gun Crimes
  • Drug Offenses
  • Sex Crimes
  • White Collar Crimes
  • Violent Offenses

The prosecution will most likely present factors that will be used to increase the charges to a more serious crime, these are called aggravating circumstances. A skilled attorney will present factors that try to put their client in a better light, these are called mitigating circumstances.

Being charged with a felony means that your freedom is at stake. If convicted, you could end up spending years or even decades behind bars. In addition, a felony conviction will be a part of your permanent record. This could affect your ability to get a job, rent a home, attend school, and more. Not to mention the social stigma that is attached to being a convicted felon.

If you are facing felony charges, you should consult with an experienced criminal defense lawyer immediately. Having an experienced attorney could mean the difference between freedom and prison.

I think AOR is the best option and have just received my renewal. The firm refuses to answer this question: Has AOR ever represented anyone in my geographic area? No names, no details, just that question and they won’t answer it for “confidentiality” reasons. Strange I think.
Response from the owner: Thank you so much for your 5-star review, William! We have represented several people in different states on the east coast over the past 30 years. Attorney Andy Marcantel just appeared in a FL courthouse this week.  However, we have not yet had a case in NC.
