Clinton Broden
Clint Broden graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and obtained his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class. He is a board-certified specialist in criminal law and criminal appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Mr. Broden’s practice is devoted exclusively to criminal defense in both state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. In addition to his home state of Texas, Mr. Broden has handled cases in Arkansas, California, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Vermont, and Virginia.
Despite a conviction rate of over ninety percent in federal court, only forty-five percent of the cases Mr. Broden has tried in federal court have resulted in final convictions; more than a forty-five percent differential. In addition, he has handled more than ninety-five appellate cases before various United States court of appeals, and he has argued before the before various United States courts of appeals on more than forty occasions. He has handled numerous post-conviction death penalty cases and has handled several cases before the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Broden is very familiar with the law surrounding a citizen’s right to defend themselves and others as well as their property. He is also very familiar with the rights of gun owners and has been involved in several high-profile self-defense cases at the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. Broden lectures to other criminal defense lawyers on various criminal law topics and he has taught trial advocacy to law students at the SMU Dedman School of Law.
