Hawaii Revised Statutes §329-13 through §329-22 identify the classifications and seriousness of many other substances deemed illegal in Hawaii. Hawaii law also determines the seriousness of various drug crimes based upon whether the substance is categorized as “dangerous,” “detrimental,” or “harmful.”

Simple drug possession is the most common variety of drug crime with which a person may be charged. Merely possessing an illegal drug in Hawaii can be a serious offense. Additionally, often a possession of drug paraphernalia charge can accompany a simple possession charge. More serious criminal charges are often brought for the person selling or manufacturing illegal drugs.
