Bonar was charged with punching Marissa Morris in the face while serving an arrest warrant on Morris. Bonar attempted to arrest Morris because he thought she had an outstanding warrant. Morris resisted arrest, telling Bonar in the video that the warrant had been cleared. Bonar then allegedly punched her twice in the face as the two struggled.

The widow of an unarmed man shot and killed by a Mesa police officer filed a wrongful death suit against the Mesa Police Department. The Attorneys for Freedom Law Firm in Chandler, Arizona filed the lawsuit on behalf of Laney Sweet, the widow of Daniel Shaver who was killed on January 18, 2016.

Ingram’s attorney Marc Victor filed a motion to dismiss the charge and says this is a first amendment issue. Victor says there are times when certain words aren’t protected but that’s not in Ingram’s case.

It began with a simple misunderstanding when the officers asked Lihosit to read them back some of the text messages and emails on his cellphone. The first line of one of the messages begins, “This is ridiculous just like you.” Lihosit reads the phrase and Officer Carroll misunderstands and thinks Lihosit is saying that to him. After it’s explained that Lihosit is just reading the message, Carroll said “I was going to say. I was about to punch him in the face.”
