Plea deal offered to teen in Preston Lord murder case as defense disputes his role in fatal attack

Attorney Andrew Marcantel of The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm represents Jacob Meisner, one of seven Arizona teens charged in connection with the death of Preston Lord—a case that has drawn national attention amid ongoing discussions surrounding teen violence and alleged connections to a group referred to as the Gilbert Goons.

Meisner was 16 at the time of the incident and now faces multiple felony charges including first-degree murder, kidnapping, and aggravated robbery. Prosecutors have extended a plea deal reducing the charges to manslaughter and aggravated robbery, but the defense has pushed back.

Marcantel argued that 17 of the 21 witnesses to the incident did not identify Meisner as one of Lord’s attackers, and that the evidence does not support holding him responsible for Lord’s death. The defense continues to advocate for a resolution based only on Meisner’s alleged involvement in a prior robbery, not the fatal assault.

A settlement conference is scheduled to resume on June 20.
