Fighting the Governor’s Executive Orders on COVID in Hawaii
Attorney Marc J. Victor recently argued at the Hawaii Court of Appeals that the Hawaii Governor’s endless emergency proclamations over COVID are illegal and unconstitutional. Governor Ige’s emergency proclamation was supposed to expire after 60 days, at which point the legislature should get involved to decide when an emergency is no longer an emergency. But it would seem Governor Ige would like to have sole discretion to make this decision by declaring another emergency after another emergency on exactly the same facts.
Attorney Victor points out that the governor should not have this unchecked power, and that the legislature should get involved after 60 days. The legislature should be the ones to decide when the emergency is over, not the Governor in his sole discretion. The legislature is the voice of the people and should be the ones to make the decision, not the governor. This is how our system of government works. We don’t give dramatic expansive powers to one person and then allow this person in their sole discretion to decide when to relinquish that power.
The Attorneys For Freedom law firm has been defending the rights of the citizens of Hawaii against government overreach during the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to do so.

Sincerely Alvin Hickling
I called the Emergency number so that I could avoid a "why didn't you call us" conversation later.
After I was connected to Howard Snader, he listened to my account of the event that transpired as well as the incident from my past. He assured me that I did the right thing by calling and he checked in on me this morning to make sure I was still a free man.
I let him know that assailant had been arrested last night and he is also on an ICE HOLD.
Thanks Rachel Moss and Tory Steward for your persistence and hard work you both provided. Now the past is truly behind me.
