Attorney Sydney J. Oshinski was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Sydney attended Lincoln Park High School where she graduated in the top 5% of her class.
Sydney attended Arizona State University and was awarded the New American University Scholarship and the “President’s Award.” Sydney earned a B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice and minored in Spanish, making the Dean’s Honor List numerous times.
While attending Arizona State full-time, Sydney worked as an Assistant Trainer at a competitive horse-showing and training barn in Scottsdale, Arizona. Sydney worked with children and adults of all ages, teaching them how to ride in addition to coaching the riders at horse shows. Sydney rode as a professional and competed in the top show-jumping circuit across the United States and Canada.
After graduating from Arizona State, Sydney began her journey to achieving her goal of becoming an attorney. Sydney attended Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, IL.
During law school, Sydney stayed focused on criminal law and secured an international criminal defense internship in Mexico City, Mexico. While there, Sydney experienced numerous proceedings and learned the nuances of the Mexican legal system. Sydney was fascinated by her experience there and wrote her law-school writing requirement on the topic.
After her second year of law school, Sydney interned at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in the Juvenile Justice Bureau. While at the State’s Attorney’s Office, Sydney was able to participate in every level of prosecution of juvenile delinquency cases, from serious felonies to misdemeanors. Sydney was able to partake and lead several trials and evidentiary hearings.
Sydney started working at the Attorneys For Freedom as a law clerk while in her third year of law school. During this time, Sydney was able to gain invaluable experience and truly learn the “ins and outs” of successful criminal defense technique and strategy
Sydney received her Juris Doctorate in December 2019 and graduated cum laude in the top 25% of her class.
After clerking for the Attorneys For Freedom for about a year, Sydney could not imagine continuing her career as an attorney anywhere else!
